About EcoGlo
An independent, plain-English guide to solar panels and batteries in the UK, with a free directory and map of the installers who fit them.
EcoGlo is an independent guide and directory. Listings are free. We check what we can against public registers and scheme lists; installers’ own claims are shown as their claims.
Why it exists
Solar can cut bills and carbon, but buying it means wading through sales talk, big promises and jargon. EcoGlo sets out the facts — with sources and dates — and lists installers in one place: who they are, where they’re based, the areas they cover, what they install, who they work for and which certifications they hold.
What’s listed
We list 576 installers with 599 offices, showrooms and depots so far: companies that design and install solar PV for homes, businesses and farms, battery specialists, and firms that repair, clean or bird-proof solar systems. We don’t list lead-generation or quote-comparison sites, or manufacturers and wholesalers that don’t install.
How listings are checked
Every listing is built from the installer’s own website and dated. We check MCS certification on the MCS installer search, and consumer-code and other memberships on the schemes’ own lists where we can, and label each one clearly as verified or as the installer states. The details are on about the data.
How listings are ordered
Only by what you choose: distance from your postcode (to the installer’s nearest office or depot), name, or the number of certifications we have verified. Nobody can pay to be listed, to move up, or to have something removed. If we ever offer paid extras, those listings will be clearly labelled Sponsored and they still won’t change the order.
How EcoGlo is paid for
Listings are free. Some pages link to Amazon; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. If we ever use an affiliate link to an installer or a quotes service, it will be marked “Ad”, and it will never change the order of listings or what our guides say.
Banner ads
Some pages also carry banner ads from 5od, a small ad service run by the owner of this site. They’re for shops and brands in the Awin affiliate network, they’re chosen to suit the page, not you, and each one is labelled “Ad”. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a commission. Ads never affect the directory or the guides, and they only load if you accept ads cookies; see how ads and cookies work here.
Who runs EcoGlo
EcoGlo is owned by Steven Smith. A company owned by the people who run EcoGlo would be labelled “Our own company” on its listing, and every listing is treated exactly the same.
For installers
Listings are free. Add your company, or use “Update this listing” on your page to correct or add details — we check changes against your website and the scheme lists before they go live.
